Discovering Cracow

It’s been a busy eight days since my last entry. I finished the next issue of Hypoxia, the paragliding magazine I edit. And also finished the article about cocktail bars in Amsterdam, where I had good and willing support from Anders and Femke.

Me and Anders also did some touristing, as part of the Interrail story, visiting the beautiful little town of Delft and brining our bikes on the fast ferry to the fishing port Ijmuiden, where you also have the big locks connecting the North sea Canal with the sea. Nice.

Now, we are in Cracow, and have been so for five days. It’s a beautiful city full of charming old houses, bars and restaurants. Surprisingly, we have had great food everyday as well, discovering the heavy but tasty Polish kitchen. Dishes like bigos (cabbage and meat stew), dumplings (ravioli-like little dough-parcels stuffed with cheese or meat) and potato pancakes have been sampled and enjoyed.

The partying has been good as well, and we found a little gem, a not so know aviation museum in the outskirts of Cracow. Another day, we took a bus to a national park and went hiking for 15 kilometers or so between to castles. Refreshing and lovely.

Today, we are heading for the old salt mines outside Cracow. Here, they have been excavating salt since medieval times, and left many interesting carvings and decorations behind. Tonight, we continue our journey to Bratislava.

There's some more photos here on my web page.
